At the beginning of every New Year people come up with different resolutions. Mostly at the middle of January these good causes are forgotten and they are only remembered with guilt.
Many people have seen pictures and videos of oceans full of plastic waste and were shocked. They were donating lots of money to organizations who claim to clean the water and to save our planet.
After the donation the next trip to the supermarket ends up with again lots of plastic wrappings, plastic containers, single use plastic and all of the stuff that is just convenient. How can you stop this???
In the video above find ways to reduce your plastic consumption and how to recycle in every day life properly.
I used to grow up in a country that doesn't exist anymore.
30 years ago the GDR ( German Democratic Republic of Germany ) was reunited and nowadays it's known as Germany.
As a child in the GDR we were ask to recycle all of the time. We were dividing paper, plastic, metal and organic waste every day. There was no company behind that, it was just how you did it.
Your old Newspapers, tins, bottles and metals were collected at special points in your town and you would get money for it. So all of the school children were collecting and recycling from a very young age.
This was 30 years ago.
My children grow up in a world, where plastic use is installed within us. Hardly anybody knows anymore how life was before Plastic took over.
I want to teach my in kids in our family how to avoid waste and living without so much plastic.
My advice for living a more eco-friendly lifestyle is this:
Think about the way your granny would do it.
Don't use paper kitchen towel to clean:
Use a proper towel!
Don't use a plastic bag for carrying your shopping:
Use a proper bag that you can take with you for
shopping or even take a basket!
Don't use Cling Film or Kitchen Foil:
Don't let the water run while you are brushing your teeth.
Don't use single use plastic with your meals:
Use proper knives, folks, plates and mugs
I have tried Wax Wraps recently after I have made vegetable juice for my family.
I have kept the leftovers and have put them into small bowls and covered them with the Bee Wax Wraps.
The Cucumber went with some garlic and Lemon peal into natural yogurt for very tasty Tzatziki.
The remainders of the carrots went into a salad the same day and the celery parts went into a vegetable stew that I have made which is originally from Italy, called Minestrone.
They Bee Wraps were much better than Cling Film because I can wash them and reuse them. If you want to give it a try and go more eco-friendly you can even save some money with the code ECONAT10 at Checkout (only valid until 20.
